President
Cole Witt Year: Senior Major: Neurobiology, Pre-Medicine Favorite Race: 100 Breast & 100 IM Bio: Hey everyone! My name’s Cole and I'm super excited to be president this year. This is my fourth year at UW and my fourth year on SCUW. Joining this club was probably the best decision I’ve made in college. I have met the most amazing people through SCUW and am so excited to lead the team this year. Like a lot of people on this club, I have swam my whole life and got involved with the club team my freshman year. I am from Janesville, WI, which is a little south of Madison. Outside of swimming I love spending time with my friends, traveling, trying new foods, and reading. I can’t wait for these next two semesters with SCUW, it’s gonna be a great year! |
Vice President
Joey Bartel Year: Senior Major: Finance and Information Systems Favorite Race: 1000 Fly Bio: Hi all! I am Joey Bartel and will be your Vice President this year. This will be both my fourth year at UW and on SCUW. I have swam at least mostly year round since 4th grade and was itching to be a part of the club from the moment I committed to coming to UW. Outside of the pool, love to lift, follow Wisconsin professional sports teams, play Magic the Gathering, and hang out with friends, especially everyone on SCUW. I am also very passionate about sustainability and am the president of one of the two business school sustainability clubs. Can’t wait to start the next SCUW season and meet all the new SCUW members! |
Finance Chair
Sally Conroy Year: Junior Major: Political Science Favorite Race: 4x100 Free Relay Bio: Hi friends! I'm Sally and this will be my third year at UW and my third year on SCUW. Having come to Wisconsin from Virginia, I joined the team with the goal of making friends and can confidently say that I succeeded! I transitioned from being an individual athlete to a team player and my favorite/best events are relays! Outside the pool, you can find me spending time with my sorority, working for the ILS department, breaking it down on the dance floor or enjoying a burger at Dotty’s. I also love to crack a good joke once in a while. I am so excited to serve as Finance Chair this year and keep the juice, fire, and hot desire alive at SCUW. Go Badgers!! |
Competition Chair
Tyler Ries Year: Senior Major: Kinesiology and Neurobiology, Pre-Dentistry Favorite Race: 25 & 50 Breast Bio: Hi all! My name is Tyler and I am going to be a senior this year. I came into college hesitant to continue swimming, but after being a part of the team, I couldn’t imagine college without it. I always enjoy coming to practice to hang out with friends and conquer challenging workouts. However, for me the best part is traveling all across the Midwest to swim at meets. While I’m out of the pool, I really enjoy hiking, golfing, paddle boarding, and going to all the sporting events on campus. I can’t wait to start another SCUW season and make many more memories. |
Volunteer and Fundraising Chair
Sam DeVillers Year: Junior Major: Neurobiology, Pre-Medicine Favorite Race: Any Relay :) Bio: Hi everyone! My name is Sam and I will be a junior this year. I joined SCUW as a freshman and have loved it ever since! I enjoy going to meets, attending team social events (bonfires / volleyball games / potlucks), and swimming with everyone at practice. When I’m not swimming, you can catch me jumping around at badger games, reading a good book, or hanging out with friends at the terrace. I am so excited to see what this season brings! |
Marketing Chair
Ava Kittleson Year: Junior Major: Nursing Favorite Race: 100 IM Bio: Hi! My name is Ava and I am the marketing chair for this 2023-2024 swim season. This is my third year at UW-Madison and on the swim club. When I first got here to UW I wanted to join the swim club because swimming was a huge part of my life growing up and I knew I wanted to continue swimming in college somehow. After I joined, I fell in love with this team and everything that comes with it! I am so excited to start this swim season and make so many new memories with all the people on the team. |
Social Chair
Chuck Steffen Year: Junior Major: Computer Science and Data Science Favorite Race: 100 & 200 Breast Bio: Hey! I’m Chuck and I’ll be your Social Chair for this next year! I grew up in Eagan, Minnesota, swam at Riptide Swim Club, and played baseball all throughout high school. I knew I wanted to keep active in college so I decided to show up to the first club practice. Everyone was so welcoming, fun, and enthusiastic about having new teammates. It made getting used to living away from home so easy. The people on the team are like family to me now, and I would not trade them in for anything in the world. If I’m not in the pool, you can usually find me around the Nick, the terrace, or in my kitchen making some delicious packet ramen. Cannot wait to meet everyone and have an amazing year together! Go SCUW! |
Practice Coordinator
Pearl Fallin Year: Senior Major: Math, Economics, and English Favorite Race: 100 & 200 Free Bio: Hi, my name is Pearl and I will be the practice Coordinator for the 2023-2024 season. This is my fourth year at UW and on the team. I joined during the covid times back in 2020, and amidst all the chaos I made a lot of memories and a lot of great friends. SCUW really is a family and one that I am grateful to be apart of. Outside of swimming I love to read, play other sports, and keep busy with my schoolwork. I’m immensely excited for the upcoming season and cannot wait to see what unfolds! |
Travel Coordinator
Ella Queenan Year: Junior Major: Psychology and Political Science Favorite Race: 200 Free Bio: Hi everyone! I’ll be your Travel Coordinator this year and I’m looking forward to a great season with you. I knew I wanted to be a member of SCUW when I was still in high school and joining this family remains one the best decisions I’ve ever made (besides attending UW, of course). I’m originally from Denver, CO but lived in Hong Kong and the suburbs of Chicago for ten years. I have swam competitively for the majority of my life, but SCUW helped me reestablish a healthy relationship with swimming and enjoy the sport again. The people on this team are just the best! Aside from swimming and college life, I love to travel, spend time in the mountains with my family, ski, and get my pet fix with our three dogs at home. I can’t wait to meet you and am looking forward to season full of laughter and memories! |
